Verathon Expands Reach of Video-guided Laryngoscopy With Extension of Glidescope™ Go Product Line
October 18, 2018 (Bothell, WA) — Verathon Inc, developer of industry-leading GlideScope™ video laryngoscopy systems, today announced a product extension which brings even greater functionality to its GlideScope Go™ handheld monitor. GlideScope Go, currently compatible with Verathon’s Spectrum fully disposable imaging blades, offers healthcare facilities an airway management solution that is portable, durable, and easy to use. Now the GlideScope Go monitor is compatible with a wider range of blades with the introduction of the all-new Video Baton 2.0, enabling healthcare facilities to deliver excellent patient care with the convenience and cost-effectiveness of single use sheaths (stats). GlideScope stats are currently used to facilitate millions of intubations worldwide, as use of single-use laryngoscopy products has increased significantly as hospitals seek to improve safety, reduce hospital-acquired infections and lower costs associated with reprocessing reusable equipment.
In addition to offering the benefit of GlideScope single-use stats with a handheld monitor, GlideScope Video Baton 2.0 provides a consistently clear, real-time view of the airway. Practitioners can also take advantage of the Reveal™ anti-fog mechanism and an updated flange that ensures an easier grip during stat disconnection and disposal. According to Tim Shauf, Verathon’s Vice President and General Manager of Respiratory and Surgical Solutions, “These features are the result of Verathon’s approach to designing GlideScope products, in which cutting-edge technology is combined with usability enhancements to give the user greater control throughout a procedure.”
That control extends throughout the entire GlideScope experience. The GlideScope Video Baton 2.0 is not only fully compatible with GlideScope Go, it is also compatible with the cart-based GlideScope Video Monitor and Smart Cable. Now users can utilize the full line of Spectrum single-use blades and large single-use stats through one cable, making inventory management more efficient.
“With the arrival of the GlideScope Video Baton 2.0, Verathon is proud to further expand the utility of the GlideScope Go monitor and provide users with an even greater range of options,” Shauf continued. “Our customers have made the GlideScope brand virtually synonymous with laryngoscopy, and we strive to honor their trust by continuing to innovate in ways that demonstrate true value for the people who use these devices every day.”
