Portable ultrasound also can be useful in designing effective toileting assistance and bladder retraining programs.
Scheduled voiding programs help long-term caregivers manage patient incontinence. These programs are typically used for those residents who do not respond to staff feedback about incontinence status and verbal prompts to use the bathroom, but who are still able to use the toilet.
