Diagnosis, Management and Treatment:

Measure post-void residual (PVR)

Bladder dysfunction can have many underlying causes. Patients may suffer from diverse conditions, such as acute cerebral vascular incidents (i.e., stroke), diabetes, kidney disease, neurological disease (e.g., Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's), post-operative urinary retention, prostatitis, side effects from certain medications, spinal cord injury, or weak or damaged pelvic floor muscles/ nerves (from surgery, childbirth).
